Black holes, by their very nature, are masters of disguise. Since light can't escape their grasp, telescopes can't directly see them. So, how do astronomers know these enigmatic giants are even out there? Perhaps we can look for their influence. Do stars nearby move in strange, swirling patterns? Is there a faint but scorching glow hinting at superheated gas swirling around an invisible object? Could the fabric of spacetime itself be subtly warped, like a mirage caused by unseen gravity?
